King of Prussia Rail will provide increased mobility and faster connections to destinations between King of Prussia and Philadelphia or Norristown. For those who do not live within walking distance to transit, SEPTA will also construct park and ride facilities for residents and commuters at each end of the extension. It is anticipated KOP Rail will also enhance personal opportunity by linking people to educational and medical institutions, as well as shopping, dining, entertainment and other social activities. In addition, KOP Rail will provide easy connections to area trails, parks and recreation areas, including Valley Forge National Historical Park, the Schuylkill River Trail and the Chester Valley Trail.
The new rail service will lead to local tax revenue by supporting new, planned commercial development and redevelopment, increasing the commercial tax base.
KOP Rail stations will be fully accessible to persons with disabilities. In addition, this new transportation option will enable aging residents to remain connected to important destinations and services. Greater transportation flexibility provides the ability for residents of King of Prussia to live in a single-car household and makes the community more attractive to home buyers – particularly millennials who want to drive less and seek high-frequency transportation when making real estate decisions.
