WELCOME

The King of Prussia Rail Project promotes and strengthens regional growth. It is essential to supporting the evolving mobility needs of our region’s citizens, communities, and employers.

Strengthening Growth and Opportunity

King of Prussia Rail (KOP Rail) is SEPTA’s proposed extension of the Norristown High Speed Line (NHSL) to KOP. The NHSL currently provides service between 69th Street Transportation Center and Norristown Transportation Center.

Why KOP Rail

KOP Rail is currently in the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) and Preliminary Engineering phase. This means that the Preliminary Engineering will be developed while the environmental and community impacts are fully determined in the FEIS. The Preliminary Engineering will refine the alignment and confirm station locations, and identify opportunities to reduce or mitigate potential impacts.

KOP Rail will connect Center City, University City, and KOP - the area’s three largest employment centers. Five stations are proposed along the route: one station/park and ride at Henderson Road; two stations behind KOP Mall; and two stations along Moore Park KOP (including a park and ride at the terminal station).

The current phase is funded through a federal earmark. Partial funding is anticipated through Federal Transit Administration’s New Starts program. A 20-year Financial Plan, currently in development, will consider a wide range of future funding options. This could include state, regional, or county funding, private investment and innovative finance options.

SEPTA provides several opportunities for the public to learn more about the KOP Rail Project and to give input to the project team. Several public meetings have occurred throughout the process to date.
